BILL DICK - YOUR LABOUR CANDIDATE

“Once again it is an honour and a very great privilege to have been selected as Labour candidate in the local election.
“I was first elected to serve on the council in 1992, at the same time as our valued and respected colleague John Hird, who sadly died last year and is greatly missed.
“I have tried to serve the interests of the people living in the Felling Ward to the best of my ability.
“As a member of Gateshead Labour Council along with David Napier and Paul McNally, I have endeavoured to secure the best possible services and facilities for Felling.
“If re-elected, I will work for the the regeneration of our area and to improve education, health, housing, assistance for the elderly and young people, employment and crime prevention
“Thank you for your support.”
Bill Dick

Bill Dick, Paul McNally and Dave Napier have been involved in many issues to improve life for the people of Felling, including:
* Chilside Road
Residents on Chilside Road will be pleased to hear that their road is to be resurfaced.
The council confirmed that the work will be carried out this financial year.
After several requests for the work to be done. Bill Dick said that he was happy that our persistence had paid-off, particularly as this request had originally been put forward by John Hird one of our councillors who died last year.
* Play Equipment
New play equipment is being installed at Felling Park and at Heworth Welfare Park. This is part of a scheme to improve our children’s play parks across Gateshead and will see further investment in other areas of Felling in the future.
* Road safety on Watermill Lane
Your councillors are pleased to see that the work on Watermill Lane to slow down the speed of traffic through Felling has been completed.
Speeding traffic has been a cause of concern to people living in that area for some time, especially the elderly, and parents taking their children to the schools close by.
Paul McNally, Bill Dick and David Napier believe the changes will make the area safer for local people and many people have already noticed the difference in the traffic flows that now gives pedestrians more time to cross safely.
* Housing Headlines
Gateshead Council and Gateshead Housing Company have been successful in qualifying for £232 million to invest in the improvement of council houses in Gateshead.
20,000 council houses will benefit from major revitalisation work over the next four years.
Work could include improvements to bathrooms, kitchens, windows, roofs, insulation, this will be carried out to many council homes.
Bill Dick said: “This is a great news for Gateshead, our tenants will see work done to improve their homes, I would encourage as many as possible to go along to the information events to find out how and when it affects them.”
* Pathfinder
Your Labour council wants to redevelop areas of Gateshead and Felling and believes the local residents should have a major say in what happens.
Pathfinder will be working in Felling to improve and regenerate over the next twelve years. Your say is important - please get involved.
* Felling High Street
Bill Dick has had many enquiries about the state of Felling High Street and if the council intends to do any improvements there.
The council working with Pathfinder have developed strategies to bring about change, but as many properties are privately owned it has been difficult to make progress.
Your Labour candidate Bill Dick wants to work with councillors Dave Napier and Paul McNally to advance any plans. It is a high priority to make some progress on this issue.
